Last Stage Heart-Break in Australia

The second round of the 2018 APRC in Canberra, Australia started positively with the Cusco Toyota Vitz and the new Dunlop tyres handling the rough rocky conditions really well. We were able to set some competitive times and at the end of Day 1 given our conservative pace were happy to be 5th overall.

Unfortunately things started to go wrong from the first stage of Day 2 when the clutch started to slip. Co-driver Scott Beckwith and I managed the situation all day - until 10 kilometres from the finish when the clutch cried enough and we had to pull over and retire. I was gutted for the team more than for myself and Scott, as the guys had worked so hard and put in some really long hours before the event.

The next APRC rally is Malaysia's Rally of Johor (20-22 July) and while it's not as rough as Australia - its hot...very hot!!
